Exodus 20; 15:22-18:27

In Chapter 20, God’s people get the Moral Law. In the other chapters indicated, we have the record of the Wilderness Experience. The moral law is captured and summarized in the 10 commandments of God.

Moreover, the commandments may further be categorized in two concepts: namely, those commandments which guide us on how we must relate to God- commandments 1-4, and those that direct us on how we are to relate to man- commandments 5-10.

As a Christian you must know that God is a moral being and that He expects His people to live upright moral lives. In the wilderness experience, God’s people vacillate between obedience and disobedience. This week we focus on the subject of the moral and wilderness experience as recorded for us in the book of Exodus. Our primary intention is to acquaint the learner with standards by which man must live-in relation to his God.

Prepare to answer the following questions:

  • What is man’s standard of determining between right and wrong?
  • Can something which God says is wrong be right?
  • What lessons should we learn from the wilderness experience about:
    • God
    • About ourselves as human beings.
