Living in grace has a strengthening effect for those who are in Jesus Christ. To be “in the world but not of the world” (John 17:16) assumes that we will continue to face trials, stress and trauma; however, the believer approaches life differently and with the hope of eternity with Christ. By sharing in the suffering as “a good soldier of Jesus Christ,” we can embrace an eternal perspective and cope with struggles with the end in mind.
Consider the verses above and how we can encourage others who face significant stress and difficulty. Be encouraged that we will also enjoy the ‘first share’ of the joy of serving the Lord, regardless of the (earthly) outcomes that may be outside our immediate control. In everything, we can confidently acknowledge that God is in control of all things, even though we are not.
