Humility starts the Steward Leader journey.  Christians want to be like Jesus.    Yet Jesus did not set himself up to be a leader.  Instead, as our passage says, He humbled himself.

So, our journey on being a leader, yes, a steward leader, starts with giving up what we think we have or what we are owed.  We give up our rights and give Jesus control of our life and the ownership he already has.   We do need to consider others better than ourselves.

Sometimes leaders are not humble, some of those likely come to mind quickly.   But God calls us to be humble like Jesus (Philippians 2:3).

  • Consider 3 to 5 ways a leader in your organization can demonstrate humility to those he or she works with.
  • Consider at least one example of a leader you admire who demonstrates humility and explain the impact on you and others.  This leader does not need to be at your organization.
