Romans 12:1 , Philippians 4:8

These two passages are  vital to the power of thinking in one’s life. Romans 12 says our minds must be transformed by the power of Christ; this will, in turn, help us to no longer conform to this world. In the Philippians passage, Paul tells us the focus of the transformed mind. Our challenge is to allow our mind to be transformed by Christ.

Language is a great tool and incredible gift; but what do we expose ourselves to in terms of movies, books, and other sources that color that language with offensive words and fill our minds with offensive thoughts? What do you think about yourself? Do you believe you are intelligent? How has God gifted you? The transformation of our minds becomes a daily part of the sanctification process. Every day we are exposed to what the world believes is “normal” but is actually a challenge to this process. We need to continually work to focus on Christ, asking Him for daily transformation. Below are some questions to consider for this week’s devotional:

  • Some compare Gardner’s eight “intelligences” with the Holy Spirit’s gifts given to us as believers. Is this a reasonable comparison? Why or why not?
  • What are some practical steps you take every day as a Christian to enhance the process of “transforming your mind?” Are there some things you need to avoid so the process is not blocked? If so, how do you do this?
