“Money, money, money, money . . . mon – ey”

These are the first five words of For the Love of Money by the O’Jays. Click here to listen to the entire song by the O’Jays. You may or may not like the O’Jays’ style, but you can’t deny the message. Take a few minutes and listen.

This soul/funk song from 1973 expresses the biblical attitude toward money. If you don’t believe it, read it for yourself, because the title and theme of this song comes straight from the Word found in I Timothy 6:6-10.

The TouchPoint Bible provides additional insights for attitude towards money:

How we handle our money reveals the condition of our soul. If we are consumed with making and spending money, our love for it may have outgrown our love for God. If we are never content with what we have, that attitude can infect all facets of our lives. If we have a generous attitude toward money, we are more likely to be generous in other matters concerning people and work. What is your money attitude?

Whatever it is, mark it down; it’s a pretty good sign that it’s also your attitude toward work, people, and family.
