In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus calls us to be light in the world and to build our lives on the solid foundation of His teachings. Change challenges us to align our behaviors and decisions with the principles we claim to stand on.
Matthew 7:24-27 emphasizes the importance of building on a firm foundation. As we face organizational change, it is important to ensure that the foundation of our organization is grounded in God’s truth and principles. In the context of this, we must remember that change is also an opportunity to let our light shine. Jesus tells us in Matthew 5:14-16 that we are the light of the world. By focusing on the good we can do and glorifying God through our actions, we model stability, hope, and purpose during times of transition. Finally, we must practice what we hear. Jesus encourages us not only to listen to His words but to put them into practice. As leaders and members of an organization, it’s not enough to just talk about values, vision, and mission—we must actively live them out. Changes can test the stability of an organization, but if we have built with integrity, wisdom, and alignment with God’s Word, we will weather the storms that come with transitions.
Change is inevitable, but when approached with faith, wisdom, and intentionality, it can be an opportunity for growth and greater impact. Let us be lights in our communities and organizations, grounded in the unshakable foundation of Christ.
