2 Timothy 2:1-7

The teacher carries great responsibility for the learning of each student.  As we have discussed in previous weeks, we are not simply passing on knowledge but also seeking a change in the heart and life of the learner.  This week we look at how to do that more effectively.

In our verses, we can note that Paul is encouraging his young protégé to continue on with his ministry of teaching by passing on the faith to “faithful men, who will be able to teach others also.”  Paul then uses several illustrations to emphasize his points in the mind of Timothy, as well as those Timothy may be training.   These are good examples of effective teaching.

What are the analogies that Paul uses to present his points?  What is the point he is making with each one?
