Genesis 3, Romans 5:12-25, and Revelation 12:7-12

Both Moses and Paul explain man’s fallen state and the need for redemption. These writers want their respective readers to understand how sin came into the world and how it affected all of creation. They were also keen on showing how sin affects our daily lives. Finally, both authors aim to show their readers how God would solve the problem of sin.

In this week’s lesson, our purpose is to discover how sin came into a perfect world and how God’s perfect man, created in His image, sinned. We will see how God responded to the entrance of sin into his world.

Read the assigned texts and answer the following questions:

  • Who tempted Adam and Eve and what was their temptation?
  • What happened to them when they sinned and what was the punishment from God?
  • How did their sin affect the rest of humankind (and all of creation)?
  • What did God do that pointed to redemption through a Redeemer?
