16 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof,
for correction, for training in righteousness;
2 Timothy 3:16, NASV
Paul wrote a young man to encourage his study of the Bible. “All Scripture is inspired by God . . .” (2 Timothy 3:16, NASV). These Sacred Scriptures are sufficient for life, ministry and as the eternal message.
The Bible is without error as the inspired Word of God. Inspiration means the Bible is God-breathed, indicating it is a divine product with divine power. The Bible is God’s authority teaching us how to live.
Studying the Bible is a personal responsibility and privilege. Studying the Bible is unlike studying any other book because the Bible is unique and unlike any other book. It is one of a kind. It is eternal, sacred and sufficient for life and ministry. Always read, observe and reflect upon the Bible as though this is your first time to explore its pages. Adopt Job’s attitude who said, “I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food” (Job 23:12).
This is why a class on how to study the Bible may be the most important class to complete. Whether you are a pastor, counsellor, parent, or student, we all are commanded to study the Bible, and have needs that will be met by sharing and applying the Word of God. To develop skills in studying the Bible will benefit us and many others the rest of our lives and in our eternal home.
