Yeshua

Throughout the Bible we read about the breath of God, which is a reference to the Holy Spirit. ‘Breath of God’ epitomizes both the supernatural power and the divine purpose of the Holy Spirit. It is the Spirit who brings life and fills us with God’s power.  When God breathed into man, man became a living creature, taking the first breath of humanity. It has been said that the name of God, Yahweh, is associated with breath because when pronounced, it is the sound of breathing. When we inhale it sounds like Yah, in exhaling it sounds like weh.  So, the very act of breathing invokes the name of God. He first breathed life into us and we still carry that breath.  When we fill our lungs with breath, we are filled with life.

Just as God’s breath gives our spirit life, our natural bodies are also powered by breathing. Most living things need oxygen to survive. When we breathe in oxygen through our nose and mouth, our lungs are filled with the life-sustaining gas. There are many benefits to breathing correctly which include walking, talking, moving…and singing. We need to learn proper breathing so that our bodies can perform to their utmost. Proper breathing is essential to singing; without it, we can injure our vocal cords and lose our ability to sing. Proper breathing reduces stress, improves immunity, increases energy, lowers blood pressure, and relieves pain. “The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life”.  (Job 33:4).  Breath brings life.

The power of breath is amazing. It awakens us to the energy inside of us and all around us. It connects us with all creation. “In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind” (Job 12:10). The breath of God in us is the very breath of creation for all mankind.
