These chapters record the obedience of God’s people and their active participation in the worship of their God. God is glorified when His people properly worship Him. This has been a consistent theme throughout this course. Right from Exodus chapter 3:12, at the call of Moses, we see God instructing him and saying, when you have brought my people from Egypt, then you shall worship (serve) God on this mountain. We have seen that people often failed in their commitment and faithfulness to God. Yet, it remains abundantly clear that God has called them to serve Him regardless of their frailty and weaknesses.
This week, the focus will be on familiarizing ourselves with how God’s people continued to labor to serve God; especially as recorded in the book of Exodus. The privilege and blessings that come with the worship of God will be apparent to us and from them we shall draw great and significant encouragement.
Prepare to answer the following questions:
- What is the significance of the Sabbath rest as it was given to Isralites in Exodus 35?
- What lessons do you draw from the fact that God involved His people in the building of a place of worship as described in chapters 36 and 37?
- Explain what kind of blessing it was for God to be with His people as they journeyed to the promised land. Provide at least 3 reasons why. Read Exodus 4 for this question.
