We will begin our first week with a biblical principle related to improving ourselves despite our fears. Matthew 25:25 (ESV) tells us “so I was afraid, and I went and hid your talent in the ground. Here, you have what is yours.”
If you continue to read, you’ll find that the Master’s reaction was a rebuke, telling the servant that he should have actually done something useful with the money, rather than hide it away. The underlying tone of this parable is this: we should not hide our abilities and always work to improve.
Fear is a powerful weapon that can keep us from progressing. In this case, fear kept the servant from taking the risk to increase his holdings. In our case, fear can keep us from learning the new; embracing the changes. Technology gives us both new learning and change on a daily basis now, and we must develop the capacity for that change.
