Numbers 2

One of the topics explored in this last week is mass communication.

When we examine the biblical account of Moses leading the Israelites out of captivity in Egypt in the Old Testament, we see documented in Numbers 2 the account of an Israelite census Moses conducted.   The results indicate that there were 603,550 men (not counting women and children).  Remember they did not have electronic media, telephones, computers, email, or even electricity.  This is a monumental communication task, and mass communication was obviously a challenge.

Transitioning to the needs of global competition across different cultures shows us that it remains challenging even in our current era.  How is God’s message delivered today?  How do we communicate to large numbers of people in a meaningful and practical way?  These are such important questions not only for marketing purposes, but also for Christians and the Church
