Colossians 3:23-24

This week we will be discussing motivation. What drives us in our work?

Christians are (or at least should be) motivated differently than non-Christians.  This does not mean they cannot serve their human managers well (read I Timothy 6:1).

As followers of Christ, scripture exhorts us to be inwardly motivated by serving Christ (Colossians 3:23-24). Consider how your attitude is impacted by your work conditions, relationship with your supervisor, and overall feelings about your job.

Answer the following questions:

  • How can you keep an attitude that focuses on “working for the Lord” in challenging circumstances?
  • Explain why you expect someone that is focused on serving the Lord, and not just their human managers, to be more or, conversely, less productive.
