This course involves substantial essay writing. There are quite a few prolific writers in the Scripture, the Apostle Paul coming immediately to mind. As we think about research writing, we are reminded of his words in 2 Timothy 2:15:
Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman who needeth
not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
This verse tells us of the diligent care we are to take in all our work. We want to be both faithful and skilled. It requires study and a careful approach to examining truth: not only the truth of God’s word, but of all we are investigating. The need for critical thinking skills is not just a good goal; it is a biblical mandate.
