Isaiah 43:19

Isaiah speaks of God’s ability to bring about new things in our lives, even in difficult circumstances. He provides paths where there seemed to be none and brings life to dry, barren places. This verse invites us to embrace change, to open our eyes to the new things God is doing in and through us, and to trust Him even when the path forward seems uncertain. In the context of education, this “new thing” can be understood as the call to innovate.

Education is foundational for growth, whether spiritually, intellectually, or practically. But as times change, so must the methods we use to teach and inspire. Innovation in education is not just about adopting the latest technology or teaching tools but about fostering creativity, critical thinking, and a passion for learning that aligns with God’s purposes. God’s new work often requires a shift in perspective. He asks, “Do you not perceive it?”. Sometimes, we get so caught up in traditional methods that we fail to recognize the new opportunities God is opening before us. In education, this might mean moving beyond outdated systems and embracing innovative practices that better equip students for today’s world and preparing them for the future. As God creates new pathways, we too are called to equip students with the skills, knowledge, and values that will help them thrive in a rapidly changing world. This includes teaching adaptability, problem-solving, and fostering a love for learning.

Innovation in education requires boldness to embrace change and the wisdom to manage it effectively. Just as God brings new life and opportunities, leaders in education must be open to innovation while guiding their schools through the challenges of change. Embracing change is not always easy, but it can lead to incredible growth and success when handled with care.

After careful reflection, please answer the following questions:

  • How can you trust God’s provision as you lead your school or organization through periods of change and innovation?
  • What new things or innovations might God be calling you to embrace in your educational setting?
  • How can you ensure that you are managing change in a way that honors both your vision and the people involved?
