Philippians 2:1-4 , Matthew 9:35-38
Last week we explored the motivation of love in communication. This week we will focus on the action of compassion. Leadership involves relationships with others. How we interact with others reveals our character. During our devotional time, we will turn to the Bible to explore “compassion.”
In Matthew 9, Jesus sees the crowds and has compassion on them. The ability to have compassion first begins with seeing a need. We need to be aware of those around us and perceptive to their situations. Jesus had compassion on both the physical and spiritual needs of people. Beyond seeing the need, Jesus takes action to meet the need.
As leaders, we need to be willing to take action and respond compassionately toward those we are leading. How did Jesus model compassion for his disciples? Can you think of a time when Jesus was compassionate to his disciples?
What are some tangible actions you can take to display compassion as a leader? What lessons on compassion can we learn from Jesus? How can we apply these lessons to our work and life now?
