Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a scientific approach to understanding behavior. ABA refers to a set of principles that focus on how behaviors change and how learning takes place. This passage is very fitting for ABA, because the behaviors of the men (David and Saul) in this text have been altered based on an intervention (e.g., the intervention in this text was done by the Lord). The Lord was with David and caused him to behave himself very wisely; however, the Lord had departed from Saul which caused him to fear.
Consider this:
- What does it mean to behave yourself wisely even as David did?
- Do you believe that an intervention such as the Lord did, could change and improve the behaviors of a person? Why/Why not?
- Does good behavior (through God’s grace) create friction among those who don’t believe in Christ: why/why not?
