In this passage, Jesus tells the story of the three servants to whom the Master entrusted his money. Each was given a different sum. As the story goes, the one who was given the most doubled his money. The one given the least, buried his. The Master was very pleased with the servant who doubled his money, but not happy with the one who just buried it.
Sometimes Christians view money as evil. Their belief may be based on the verse in I Timothy 6:10 that says: “For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil.” The verse, however, specifies the love of money as the root of all kinds of evil, not the money itself. This parable seems to indicate that individuals who have been given much, whether that be money, talent, or intellect, are expected to use it to its fullest in service to the Master.
This week’s topics include the cash flow of a business. Businesses also have a responsibility to use their resources well and we will learn how a cash flow statement identifies how well cash is being used.
