Read Psalm 110

Psalm 110:1 is the most quoted Psalm in the New Testament. For instance, Jesus applies this Psalm to himself in Matthew 22:41-46. After reading through Psalm 110 and considering the context, how should one understand King David’s psalm in light of how Jesus employs years later?

This week the interpreter will be considering figurative language, namely Hebrew poetry. When one considers how much literary real estate is given to Biblical-Hebrew poetry, what might this communicate to us about our God?
