It is always good to heed the call of God to contend for the faith that He has graciously given to us. It is even better to know what we believe and why we believe and to be able to articulate it to others with great compassion and patience. This week we turn our attention to studying the Essential (Core) Christian Doctrines – those tenets that distinguish Christianity from other religions and whose understanding and belief has eternal consequences.
Answer the following questions:
- Why is it necessary to watch Biblical doctrines closely? Does what one believes matter?
- What other portions of God’s word would you use as the basis for essential teachings?
- What do you think is the relationship between our theology and our practice?
