Proverbs 6:6-1, Proverbs 12:24-27, John 1:14, Colossians 3:23-24
Last workshop’s devotion touched on the importance of working hard and avoiding laziness. This message is also relevant for this workshop because the content focuses on the primary and secondary functions (customer relations, sales, marketing, product distribution, accounting and finance, human resources, information technology etc.) that any business must perform to succeed. Diligence in all of these areas is paramount.
Christians can sometimes have a devalued view of these types of processes and jobs in these career sectors, because, after all, they do not qualify as “ministry” in the fullest sense. But even Christ was a carpenter, and the very fact that he came alongside and dwelt among us as a fully human being should tell us how highly God values our work efforts, regardless of the task and calling. The fact is, each of us has been uniquely blessed with certain gifts—things we are good at which may or may not lead us into full-time ministry. But even if we never set foot behind a pulpit to deliver a sermon, our work can and should be a sacred ministry to the Lord. So long as we do our work with diligence, integrity, and care for others, and ultimately, as a love offering to God, we will find true joy and success in our work.
If you viewed your work as a sacred ministry to the Lord, how would that change it?
