King Solomon offers wise advice to the money manager: making no investment is harmful, as well as making risky investments. We must find God’s wisdom in investing our money. The financial manager has a delicate task. We cannot know the future, and yet we must make plans for it based upon the best information that we have available. We cannot rely on our own wisdom but must ask God to guide us as we use our skills to evaluate investment options. Doing nothing with our money demonstrates a lack of care and diligence. Being too aggressive with investing demonstrates greed and poor judgment.
These Scriptures reflect God’s desire to make Himself evident in our everyday decision making. If we learn to rely on His wisdom, He will take care to protect our investments and bless our plans. We cannot get so focused on the results that we forget about the process. Those that have no trust choose the extreme. The hoarder is focused on losing everything and does nothing. The greedy person seeks to get rich quick and makes rash decisions. God wants our trust.
God, give us the right perspective on our investments. Grant us wisdom in our decision making, O Lord. Amen.
