As we summarize our accounting topics in this course, we find that they all focus on aiding the manager in making wise decisions. Many of the techniques provide information that aids informed analysis. We will call this understanding. The organization is built on wisdom, but it will not prosper unless there is understanding. The organization must become fine-tuned in order to express its mission and accomplish its goals for the owner and society.
We find this in our personal lives as well. We must constantly be growing in our understanding and purpose in order to prosper. It is not enough just to maintain. Without continued guidance from God and adherence to His principles, our lives will not be as effective as they could be. Where in business we are looking toward constantly improving our performance, it is not so different in life. While salvation is not about performance but acceptance of Jesus’ death and resurrection on our behalf, we should continually be striving to walk out this salvation on a daily basis. Making good decisions will require knowledge from God’s word. We must grow in our faith and knowledge of God’s principles and adopt them into our life. Taking account of our actions is an important part of this reflection. Are our actions glorifying God? Are we making decisions that put us in alignment with God’s call on our life?
God, help us to gain understanding. Mold us into Your image. May we continually exhibit the work You have done in our life. Amen.
