Zephaniah

This chapter covers judgement coming against Judah during King Josiah’s reign.

Principles: God brings judgment to those who pretend to worship Him but really worship something else.

The chapter starts with a call for repentance saying that God might hear their call to repent and stay judgment. Then the chapter covers judgment coming against several nations that has opposed Israel.

Principles: repentance prevents judgment.

This chapter talks about God delivering Judgment on nations and cities (Jerusalem in particular) in an effort to cause repentance. It then turns to a picture of redemption for Jerusalem and God’s people.

Principles: Let God purify your speech. God’s purification process brings redemption.
