Read Romans 12:3-8
This week you will explore your strengths through the CliftonStrengths® Assessment. Paul in Romans speaks about a single body with many members. Each member in the body of Christ has a different function (gift/strength). In 1 Corinthians 12:12-27, Paul writes about unity, the body, and diversity. There are many biblical examples of how individual giftedness might be used together for God’s glory. However, the idea of one body (teamwork) is not just limited to individuals within a church’s membership. When we serve God with our strengths in all areas of our life (family, church, work, etc.), we will be operating in the way we were designed.
Consider a baseball team. There are nine players working together, but each has a specific position and job function, each working individually and together. A team, regardless of domain, should be using their individual strengths and working together to function efficiently and effectively towards the group goal. Understanding more about God’s purpose for our lives and how to use the strengths that He has given us is part of our growth and spiritual development.
Comment on the biblical idea that each individual has a function (purpose), and how these strengths or gifts might be used together to create a body that ebbs and flows in unity.
