1 Timothy 1:5

(opens in a new tab)

With this devotional we begin to explore how to teach effectively and pass on the Christian faith to those around us.  It is interesting that the notes within the ESV Study Bible suggest replacing the word “aim” with “goal.”  In so doing, it agrees more readily with the New American Standard translation of this verse: “But the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.”

For your devotional interaction, consider these ideas separately.  What does it mean that the “goal” of our instruction is love?  What is love from a pure heart?  What is love from a good conscience?  What is love from a sincere faith?
