Regardless of the industry of a company, personnel is the single most valuable asset within an organization. As such, good personnel can bring a company to its highest success, and poor personnel can bring it to its fastest demise. Investing in people has been a longstanding principle for all organizations, and is a fundamental call of the Scriptures. Jesus invested in His disciples and calls for each follower to invest in. The Scriptures are clear that we all have been equipped with certain strengths and talents, but not all the same strengths and talents.
Our personality strengths are enhanced by the spiritual gifts that we have been given from the Lord. We talk a lot about spiritual gifts, and how they help us serve in His church, but how can we utilize those spiritual gifts to help us perform more effectively . . . as well as serve as a greater witness . . . in the workplace?
Take Lydia of Thyatira as an example (Acts 16:40). She was obviously a successful businesswoman who understood the complexities of the local business and regulatory community. What influences might she have exerted on Paul, Silas, and Luke’s behalf? Is she perhaps the one that introduced “a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination” (verse 16) to this evangelistic triad? Do you suppose this “damsel” worked for her? What impact did Lydia have as a successful businesswoman in the ministry?
What are your spiritual gifts? How do you put those gifts to work for Christ every day at work?
