Proverbs 13:11 and Proverbs 12:11

God wants us to be honest. If we are, He will reward us. He knows we will be tempted, but He wants us to think before we react. He desires us to be smart with our money and use it wisely as we engage with others.

God tells us how to wisely gather and spend money and how we must work hard for our success. He will work with us as we ask for guidance. He wants to give us more than what we deserve, but we must do our part. We cannot sit back and wait for Him to hand everything over on a silver platter.

Businesses strive to be number one in their industry and sometimes this means finding new plans to partner with or acquire other organizations. This might be honest, but it could lead to dishonest practices and thus be against His will. He wants us to make wise decisions when we are partnering so that we will do what He desires. Likewise, we must also work hard in everything we do and not enter into areas that He does not approve. For example, organizations will often see the profits that international business practices, partnerships, and acquisitions have to offer, but they may not be His desires. He does not want us to advance to these levels by chasing fantasies. We must make good decisions and follow His will. If we do, all will work out and we will have an abundance of joy and income.

In our daily lives, we must see what He wants and allow ourselves to grow with Him through time and only within His will. We may want to become missionaries or go overseas to help others and that is a wonderful thought, but we must listen to Him. We must not follow our fantasies of what we want, but rather we must listen to Him and through time He will grant us the desires of our heart to serve Him in the right fields and at the right time.

As you face ethical challenges in your business career, what structures might you put in place to ensure you are working for the Lord?
