Sin affects and has infected us all. As pastor Conrad Mbewe said in regards to sin, “The disease is on the inside.” Passed down from Adam we stand condemned in sin. If we are honest about the fallen condition of ourselves we know that we are in big trouble. Unless someone not like us makes a way for us, we will die in our tresspasses and sins. This fact must be made clear to all people before it is eternally too late.
We are living in days that want to downplay the sinfulness of man. People will tell us in conversation that they are not really that bad of a person. That they are essentially good and that while they may do some bad things, in the end they will be okay because a loving God exists. The simple reality is that we live and minister in a culture that has no concept of imputed sin.
Consider the following as you reflect on this week’s devotional:
- Why is it essential for people to understand that their sin is inherited from Adam?
- How do people in your ministry context try to escape the reality of indwelling sin?
- How would a stronger understanding of indwelling sin help churches today?
