Jesus is the great communicator. We can learn valuable lessons in communication by mindfully reading how Jesus responded to others and how Jesus communicated with those around Him. The Bible is the perfect place to start for those wanting to learn more about leadership communication.

This week we will focus on what the Bible teaches about “love.”  The Bible uses several words for love. The word that is used for God’s love for us represents an unconditional love. Love is thinking about others and the needs of others above our own goals. When we love, we put the needs of others before our own.

In communicating His love to us, God did not only use words, but He communicated His love with action. When we love others we show concern for them above ourselves. God was clearly thinking about what was best for us when He sent His Son as a sacrifice for our sins.

Can you recall a time when someone spoke to you in a way that showed they did not have your best interests in mind? How receptive were you to that information? Conversely, can you think of a time when someone told you something difficult, but had your best interests at heart? Effective communication is not just a toolbox of skills and techniques; effective communication is rooted in a motivation of love.

As a leader, how would a sincere motivation of love for others impact your communication
