Mark 16:15-16

These verses in the Gospel of Mark speak of the Great Commission, and one can find a form of the Great Commission in all four of the Gospels. One key contrast between the accounts of Matthew and Mark is how Mark includes an outcome for both those who accept and those who reject the message. Additionally, Mark uses the phrase “the gospel.”

In preparation for this week’s lesson on the gospel, slow down as you read this passage; then try to identify the various parts provided by Mark. For example, can you identify the command given in this commission? Who is affected by the command? Can you identify the benefit offered in this command?

Consider the following questions as you reflect on this week’s devotional:

  • Explain how these two verses affect you personally.
  • Explain the importance of this command from Jesus.
