2 Timothy 3:16-17

Paul writes to Timothy instructing him on the nature of Scripture. He desires to build off of young Timothy’s understanding that had been handed down to him through his mother and grandmother. Paul asserts that the key thing that Timothy knows is two-fold. First, he knows the Scriptures are from God, in fact, they are God breathed. Second he desires him to understand what the Scriptures do. They are active and will accomplish the fourfold plan that God intends them too. They are to be taken seriously because they are from God.

As you get ready to write your theological statement this week, think about the nature of God’s Word. Our confidence in God’s Word should cause us to have confidence as we pursue the ministry that God has called us to do. Not only should it give us confidence but as we communicate the Word, it should give confidence to the people that we serve week in and week out. Praise God that we get to work with inspired material each week that we teach or preach.
