In this week’s readings, we see how important the structure of an organization is to the successful implementation of its strategy. God’s strategy to bring humanity back into relationship with Him also requires structure. In 1 Timothy 3:1-10, Paul gives us the requirements to hold the offices of Overseer and Deacon in the church. This is just part of the structure that God has given to help us fulfill His strategic plan to bring people back into relationship with Him.
When we look at Jesus and the twelve disciples, we see that he used a very simple structure of one leader and twelve followers. In Matthew 4: 18-22, we see that Jesus called His first four disciples to follow Him and assist Him in His ministry.
As followers of Christ, we need to be aware of the organizational structure that God has given the church; and how it is necessary in implementing His strategic plan to bring humanity back into relationship with Him.
