In this final week, we will focus on ethics and sustainability. The word sustainability has various meanings. In the strictest sense it means ensuring something can last well into the future. However, today the word sustainability carries the connotation of taking care of the earth, which we as Christian view as God’s creation.
Verse 2 of this passage talks about God creating the universe through His Son. Verses 3 and 4 go on to talk about the Son sustaining all that God created. Being Christ-like includes sustaining His creation. In business, this includes everything from paying employees a fair wage to ensuring business practices are environmentally safe. Since God created everything, everything we do in business impacts God’s creation.
