Leadership is developed through educational processes (formal education) and through experiences (proverbial school of hard-knocks). When our leadership is challenged or we are faced with difficult situations or even temptations, it is in these moments that we must be able to rely on our philosophical foundation. David failed to stay focused on what was important as a leader; he let the temptation of the moment be his guiding force and he fell to an incredible temptation. Unless we build a firm foundation as a leader, we can do the same.
