This week we will study the theories of Jung and Existentialism.
Existentialism ponders the questions: “Who am I?” “What can I know?” “What should I do?” “What can I hope for?” “Where am I going?” Solomon asks these same questions in the book of Ecclesiastes. He starts the book with the following:
“Meaningless! Meaningless!” says the Teacher. “Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless.” Ecclesiastes 1:1
He ends the book with his conclusion:
…here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing whether it is good or evil. Ecclesiastes 12:13b
Consider this:
- How does the Bible answer the questions posed by existentialists (listed above)?
- What are some Scripture verses that answer the questions for you personally?
