Hebrews 11:6

We sometimes see the description of Christianity as “not a religion, but a relationship.” This relationship flows out of the truth that God is a personal God. Our faith grows as we learn about Him. This growth leads to deeper fellowship. This deeper fellowship is borne out in our diligence to seek Him and a desire to please Him.

God reveals Himself to us in the Scriptures. This revelation speaks in a way that the finite creature can comprehend an infinite being. It begins with an assent that a supernatural God does indeed exist. This mental assent leads to the need of having a personal relationship with this incredible God. Faith moves the creature into this personal relationship through what Christ accomplished in His death and resurrection. Transformation into the image of Christ is the goal.

Diligently seeking God requires an action of faith on what we understand about this personal God. It calls for a maturing devotion on the part of the believer. Worship and service are the ways in which we diligently seek God. This inward transformation works outwardly by sharing the gospel with others who are seeking truth. In this we please God and enjoy His promises.

  • Why is important for you personally to diligently seek God?
  • How have you experienced God’s faithfulness in your life?
  • What challenges do you face to keep your relationship with God fresh?
