This week is about supply, demand, shortage, and surplus. In Ruth 1:1, we see the effects of shortage: high demand, low supply. Talk of a shortage, particularly a shortage of food, can cause people to do things they normally would not do. Here, we see a man who makes a rash decision to go live in a land that is forbidden for Jews to even pass through.
Consider the following as you reflect on the devotion: When facing difficult situations in your life, have you headed toward God or in a direction where you know God does not want you to go?
