In week 5 of our course, our goal is to appreciate the practical nature of Paul’s argument in Romans, especially as it relates to our interactions with fellow believers. We also want to value the opportunities that we each have for service to God. When teaching through Romans, it can be helpful to keep in mind where his argument is going in light of the situational context. Romans 12-16 serves as Paul’s application of Romans 1-11. It’s the logical outcome of his argument about how God has saved us. This week, one of your assignments is to articulate the central purpose of Romans. Read Romans 12:1-2 and Romans 15:1-7 and reflect on its significance in your life. Specifically address the following question in your devotional response: What is the “will of God” in Romans 12:2? How does your understanding of the “will of God” impact your view of spiritual gifts?
