How many times have you defined your own self-worth by comparing yourself to others, or the ideals that are promoted by societal viewpoints? We are constantly bombarded with information on what is acceptable and desirable, and this information affects how we view ourselves as individuals and see our self-schemas. We often gauge worth on these social comparisons, but need to remember where our true value lies.
God recognizes this in the above Scripture. He speaks to the fact that, while many gauge another’s worth by measuring it up against societal ideals, He knows that it is what is in our hearts that should shape our self-concept and guide behaviors. He has designed us with a specific plan in mind, and it is through prayer and reflecting upon His Word that we can truly discover our internal self-worth and shape a healthy self-concept that aligns with our Christian beliefs and attitudes.
