Our focus this week will be to examine the empowerment of Peter by the Holy Spirit in the passage above. Clearly, there was a conveyance beyond the norm of intelligence and experience. There was a heft, a gravity and result that went far beyond Peter’s natural abilities. But where did it come from?
Consider the following questions.
- What was the core message of Peter and John’s preaching?
- Notice the question in verse 7. What was meant by the word “power” in this context? (The Greek word here is dunamis.)
- What does it mean in verse 8 when it refers to Peter as “filled with the Holy Spirit”?
- What does it mean that Peter and John were “unschooled, ordinary men” in v13?
- Lastly, how does any of this apply to you, today, as a communicator of the Gospel?
