Rhythm of Grace ; Rhythm of Your Love
Have you ever talked about the rhythm of your life? Perhaps you have a great life rhythm between your work life and your home life. Or perhaps you are like many of us, and lament about the lack of time to do everything you want to do. This is especially true if you are a working parent who must juggle many activities. Fortunately, God has provided a way out of the daily grind of work, and the many activities in which we are involved. He even gave us our priorities-God 1st, Family 2nd, Work 3rd. When we get these out of rhythm, our life becomes very complicated. So, the rhythms of life have been established by God. He teaches us through the rhythms of creation, the tide of the seas, the steady heartbeat, sunrise, and sunset. In Jesus, God gave us a strong example of how to have a simple rhythm for life. In Matthew 11 (MSG), we read “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly. All these things are examples that help us to see God’s planned rhythms for our lives. And, of course, rhythm is also an important part of music.
Rhythm moves a melody along like the second hand of a clock. The beat continues steadily forward. Rhythm is a strong, regular, repeated pattern of movement or sound. Music is full of rhythm just as life is full of rhythm. Rhythm can even increase social bonding when we engage in them. Things like singing, dancing, clapping, chanting, and talking with others, are all things that involve rhythm. Rocking a baby brings a lot of peace to both us and the child.
Our brain is stimulated by rhythm and our bodies were built for healthy rhythms. God created rhythm to be an important part of our lives.
