You have all made the decision to become more knowledgeable by enrolling in an educational program. You are seeking out information to make you more competent in your future professional goals. The prudent person mentioned in Proverbs—that’s you!—will carefully consider this knowledge and form a belief system only after he or she has the information needed to make an informed and educated decision. We are fortunate that, as Christians, we have God’s Word to serve as the ultimate educational guide. It is through His Scriptures that we are able to make decisions that will align with living a Christian lifestyle.
In the educational community, we also need to make sure we are armed with enough information not to rush to judgment, or accept information presented as truth. Sometimes it is a sense of pride that prevents us from reconsidering what we think, sometimes it is the influence of others that encourages us to not question when we should, sometimes it is how the information is presented that causes inaccurate conclusions. Regardless of the reason, it is important to continue to engage in lifelong learning to form accurate viewpoints. This occurs in the academic environment, as well as when forming our spiritual sense of self.
