This is a difficult passage to read. The traits of such individuals are longstanding, self-defeating in their self-interest, marked by turbulent relationships with others, and causing pain to others. Such individuals within the church, especially if they are in positions of leadership, can cause tremendous damage to the church.
Reflect on individuals with such traits and how you could be in relationship with them, so you can help them move toward loving others outside themselves, change their exploitative behaviors, and improve their relationships with others.
