The famous Westminster Shorter Confession, a statement of faith that has been recited in churches for nearly 400 years, is still so true. It says that the “chief end” of humankind “is to glorify God, and to enjoy him forever.” Everything we do, not just “Christian” endeavors, not just church-related activities, but everything must be devoted to God. That would include this English course, right? As Romans 11:36 says:
“For from him and through him and to him are all things.
To him be the glory forever! Amen.”
In every devotional in this course you have been looking at the weekly academic activities through a spiritual lens. As you reflect this week and also look to the future and how to achieve a life-long learning mindset, remember the key is to dedicate everything to Him. In that sense nothing is really “secular.” If we can’t devote an activity or endeavour to God, then it simply should not be done.
