Read Daniel 1
Read the article that discusses Daniel’s leadership.
While there are scores of leadership examples in both Old and New Testaments of the Bible, few compare to the leadership standard of Daniel. Here in chapter one, we see him at the top of his particular “class” of Hebrew captives (Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah), and these four at the top of all “the young men of Judah’s royal family and other noble families, who had been brought to Babylon as captives.” (vs. 3) He was quick to develop relationships (vs. 8 & 9, the Chief of Staff) without compromising his personal standards of integrity (vs. 11 – 15 the Chief of Staff’s attendant), and ultimately the king himself (vs. 18 – 20).
He was so well respected for his wisdom and integrity, he served under no less than seven very different kings.
- Focusing on chapter 1, what are some of Daniel’s leadership traits?
- Identify a couple of things that made him such a great leader at such a young age?
- Name at least one thing that kept him “great” (besides God’s obvious blessing) before so many kings?
