While this passage is God’s inspired Word, it was David who, humanly speaking, wrote this song (psalm). Before David became king, he spent time in the field taking care of his father’s sheep. There were likely nights when he looked up and saw the stars twinkling in the sky over his hometown, Bethlehem, and thought about God’s creative power. This Psalm discusses how God’s creation declares His glory. As we pursue and teach STEM, it is an opportunity to please Him as we learn and share more about Him.
This Psalm is so appropriate as we begin our study together of STEM. David proclaimed that creation declares God’s glory. As we begin our study of STEM and think about creative ways to teach science, technology, engineering, and math, we will be reminded of just how wonderfully remarkable the universe God created is, and, therefore, how wonderfully remarkable He is! The study of creation points us to our Creator, God Almighty. This will be an exciting journey to get to know Him better as we come to understand some of the STEM principles and concepts that give us a glimpse of His fingerprints in creation.
After careful consideration, please answer the following questions.
- What are some ways you see evidence for God’s role in creation in one of the areas of our anticipated STEM study (science, technology, engineering, and math)?
- When it comes to the area you selected (for the previous question), what are two or three key passages of Scripture that you find interesting that relate to that topic? Discuss the passages and explain why you selected them specifically.
