Isaiah 58:11-12

To repair means “putting together what is torn or broken.”  To restore means to “bring back or put back into an  … original state.”  Many things can be repaired with minimal effort or sacrifice; however, it takes a greater commitment to restore something.

The world in which we live is in desperate need of more than repair. It needs restoration.  Society has “progressed” so far from Godly principles that it can look like an impossible task, especially for those preparing for ministry.   However, as this Scripture points out, the Lord is our guide and will give us strength to accomplish the task before us.  He has called those in ministry to not just repair, but more importantly, restore the things that have been broken, discarded, and left by the wayside.

It is up to us to determine whether or not we are willing to sacrifice our plans and desires to see that restoration come through us.
