Imagine being present at creation. The overwhelming wonder of seeing order created out of chaos, bringing peace, harmony, melody, the rhythm of the seasons, patterns, and dynamic sounds (thunder, tides of the seas) is beyond comprehension. God precepts and wisdom put them all together to create the world and all that is in it. The morning stars sang together, and the angels shouted with joy (v. 7). His glory was in full display at the creation of the world. Heaven celebrated. And God gave musicians tools to create a perfect musical composition. In like manner, God brings order, peace, rhythm, and harmony to our lives when we trust Him.
A musician uses understanding of pitch, sounds, rhythm, meter, and lyrics etc., to bring order to a written piece of music. As Christians, we order our lives on these things to bring order out of the chaos. Harmony, melodious thought, rhythms of life, rest, are all things that create a beautiful composition. They also create a beautiful life for those who follow God’s precepts and wisdom.
After careful consideration, please answer the following questions.
- Compare and contrast sound, pitch, rhythm in music to our lives as Christians.
- How did God bring you to a realization of His love for you?
- How can our lives, like a beautiful composition, show His love to the world?
